According to The Advocate, construction crews have started installing new piping systems in the Southern University campus.
The underground water system that has reportedly been causing problems for years will finally be fixed in a $10 million project that is expected to conclude on mid-summer of 2012.
Endas Vincent, the director of Southern University's facilities planning, was quoted as saying that they will, "hopefully, improve our energy savings and satisfy some of these complaints. We've had a lot of complaints about cold buildings."
The project is described as "extensive," but is hoped to resolve the excessive utility contests that have been a burden to the campus for years.
According to Vincent, the piping system was installed in 1982, and has been giving trouble for the past two decades because of the wear and tear caused by corrosive soil at Southern.
